Slow Down & Take Smaller Bites
One of the Five Rules of the Leptin Diet is Do Not Eat Large Meals. The problem for many is that they will eat until they feel satisfied, which oftentimes means eating more than you actually need. A new study confirms the obvious, but it is worth pointing out because it is important. Researchers showed that people who eat smaller bites and chew their food longer1 get a satisfying full signal eating significantly less food than if they eat larger bites and go faster. The relationship of food contact with your tongue, which has receptors for leptin all over it, is very important in helping your subconscious brain determine when it is satisfied. If you are out eating with friends, look around the table at who finishes first and then look at their waistline. Its an obvious point but often forgotten when you are hungry and sitting down for a meal.
