MSG Intake Linked to Human Obesity
The near-useless FDA has said for a long time that the ingestion of MSG was safe, and so it is used as an addictive flavor additive in countless processed and branded foods in the United States. A new study of Chinese citizens says otherwise, showing that ingestion of MSG is directly linked to obesity1.

It has been known for quite some time that MSG induces obesity in rats, data which the FDA ignores. In fact, if a scientist wants to study a rat that is obese but not diabetic the rat is fed MSG until the leptin-related wiring in the rat's brain is so damaged it becomes obese. There are several hundred studies in the literature on the MSG-obese rat.

The new study shows that in humans, with comparable calorie intake and exercise levels, the ingestion of MSG results in much higher risk for obesity. It is long past time for the FDA to start correcting its major mistakes that are contributing to the obesity epidemic in America. MSG, like high fructose corn syrup, should be banned.
