Do You Have Sick Fat?
After a detailed molecular analysis of the fat of obese individuals1 compared to the fat of lean individuals it was discovered that the obese fat contained so many abnormalities relating to poor metabolic function that the researchers described it as “sick fat.”

In general, the fat from obese individuals was more inflamed and stressed, resulting in a condition of poor metabolic function within the fat tissue itself. Said another way, when there is too much fat the fat itself becomes metabolically inactive because gene switches are being activated that run off metabolism of fat.

This is a very nasty catch 22; how can you metabolize fat and lose weight if the extra fat is slowing down fat-related metabolism?

The answer of course is to take the stress off the fat. This can be done by following the Five Rules of the Leptin Diet and using nutrients that reduce inflammation within stored fat – which is the primary goal of many of the nutrients in the Leptin Control Pack. As extra fat starts to metabolize then more normal function is returned to the remaining fat, in turn further assisting fat metabolism. It is vital to restore the healthy metabolism within fat – and it can be done over a period of time. The first sign of progress is getting in a mode where you are slowly but surely losing weight from month to month.
