Sally Field – The Boniva Drug Pimp
December 15, 2009

It is particularly nauseating to turn on the TV and watch Sally Field engage in blatant fraud while gullible consumers across the U.S. drive up the sales of Boniva (up 25% last year to 625 million dollars). Of course, the FDA and FTC are nowhere to be found when real fraud is going on; they only like attacking little dietary supplement companies that don’t have the resources to fight back.
Sally says her bone loss has been reversed by Boniva after taking it for a year. No Sally, your bones have been swollen by Boniva so that they look bigger when worthless two-dimensional pictures are taken of them. That fake benefit will disappear in a few years as your swollen bones “burn out” and return to their previously lacking look, this time in even worse condition. Should you ever have an actual bone biopsy you will find that your bone architecture is disorganized and that you have a higher percentage of older and weaker bone. And if you are faithful in taking your Boniva every month, after a decade, like many other women taking bisphosphonates, your bones are more likely to be in a decrepit condition1 wherein they will break from a minor fall – as is now being reported from regular users of these toxic poisons.
Sally, you have been duped, like millions of other women – although in your case you can laugh all the way to the bank – a true bone-drug pimp for Roche and GlaxoSmithKline. For those of you who like to review the facts on the issue I have documented the side effects of this highly toxic class of drugs in my article, “The Delusion of Bone Drugs.”
Let’s not forget that it is the media that stood up for Big Pharma’s first amendment rights – otherwise all these nutty commercials would be restricted and mostly off the air. The media is desperate for advertising dollars and Big Pharma is a prize client.
The dose of Boniva is only once a month. The dose of Sally Field is daily – yuck.
