CalActive™ is a unique calcium supplement where the calcium is bound to nutrients that offset fatigue and help make energy. It is an excellent supplement for anyone to take before exercise. CalActive™ provides highly absorbable forms of calcium, vitamin D3, and anti-fatigue nutrients including malic acid (malate), a nutrient shown to reduce muscle tightness and improve muscle energy. Dose recommendation is 3-6 capsules per day.

Who Should Take CalActive?

Active Individuals
Muscles have a huge energy requirement for optimal function, especially during exercise. Muscle fatigue occurs when nutrients run short, causing lactic acid to form. Too much demand on muscles and lactic acid formation can leach calcium out of your bones and induce bone loss, particularly in active individuals and athletes who are not adequately nourished. Take two capsules in the morning and two before exercise.*

Younger Individuals, Teens
High quality calcium is greatly lacking from the American diet. Calcium is important in the teenage years for bone growth. Inadequate calcium intake in teenage girls has been linked to increased bone loss later in life because their bones were not adequately nourished while they were growing. This is especially true for teenage athletes. Calcium is also important for relaxation and nerve health in males and females. 2-3 capsules per day are an excellent addition to the diet.*

Pregnant Women
Calcium is essential during pregnancy. If there is inadequate calcium intake, then calcium will be leached from the mother's bones in order to supply the necessary minerals to the growing baby. During pregnancy 1,000mg per day of calcium supplementation in addition to the diet is recommended (5 capsules of CalActive). Five capsules would also provide 1,000 IU of vitamin D per day, an important vitamin for pregnancy.*

Adults and Seniors
Adults and seniors need 1,000 - 2,000mg of calcium per day and 1,000+ IU of vitamin D. CalActive is a great way to increase your daily intake of calcium, and is helpful taken daytime for muscle energy. It works synergistically with other bone support nutrition (such as Daily Bone Xcel or Daily Builder) and may be used together with these products as desired to improve bone nutrition. For example, a woman in her 50s may want to take 2 Daily Bone Xcel in the morning, 2 CalActive mid-day and 3 Daily Bone Xcel at bed. This combination would provide 1,400mg of calcium and 1,200IU of vitamin D per day.*

Quality of Calcium

Quality calcium in dietary supplements depends on how the calcium is structured or chelated to other substances of metabolic importance. Plain calcium carbonate, has little ability to do anything useful in your body. CalActive™ is a first-of-its-kind calcium product where the calcium is bound to nutrients that act in the Krebs cycle to offset fatigue and help make energy.*

Check your label!
Low quality forms of calcium include: Calcium carbonate, calcium oxide, calcium gluconate, calcium citrate, dicalcium phosphate. These low quality minerals are often in tablets and glued together with dicalcium phosphate, making them pass through the digestive tract and into the toilet unaltered.

High quality forms of calcium include: calcium fumerate, calcium malate, calcium ascorbate, calcium alpha-ketogluterate, Calcium AEP, Coral Calcium (high grade coral calcium with a 2:1 calcium/magnesium ratio; no heavy metals). MCHC - in Daily Bone Xcel.

Higher quality calcium products will be in powder forms or powder inside of a capsule versus tablets. You will see that you need to take more capsules of a higher quality form of calcium in order to get the recommended daily minimum (1,000 mg). This is because calcium is a larger molecule and you can only fit so much of it into a capsule. Low quality products will oftentimes be 500 mg of calcium per tablet, however, the way that companies do this is by compressing the calcium and even gluing it together into a tablet, making it very difficult for the body to absorb and use. For some people these forms of calcium can even cause digestive upset or constipation. There is a huge quality difference among calcium products.
