Pantethine Helps Metabolism, Cholesterol, and Stress
Brain fog? Run down from stress? High cholesterol? Pantethine is a versatile nutrient that virtually everyone will benefit from! Pantethine is a premier energy-boosting metabolic support nutrient. It is the coenzyme form of vitamin B5. Because it is bonded with sulfur, it has special biological activity that regular vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) does not have. Here are four reasons to supplement with the powerhouse vitamin.

1. Metabolism. Pantethine is the immediate precursor to an enzyme called Co-enzyme A (CoA). CoA is essential for the metabolism of proteins, fat, and carbohydrates. When you supplement with pantethine, you can raise levels of CoA and better support the conversion of your food into fuel.

The development of a fatty liver as a result of weight gain marks a serious metabolic turning point that sets the stage for weight gain, diabetes and serious metabolic problems. In one study, sixteen patients with fatty liver received 600 mg of pantethine per day. Their liver enzymes were cut in half (returning to normal) and their adiponectin levels were improved. Improving adiponectin means that there will be less insulin resistance and better leptin control. Unclogging a fatty liver will also help to reduce belly fat.

2. Cholesterol. Cholesterol is a normally produced substance that needs to be moved naturally in metabolic processes to sustain survival. If cholesterol particles are thought of as box cars in a train, then pantethine is the engine providing energy to move cholesterol to where it needs to go.

Many studies show that pantethine to lower cholesterol. It can also reduce triglycerides and directly aid in the formation of healthy HDL cholesterol. In one study of patients with high cholesterol and triglycerides known to be at higher risk for stroke, pantethine not only lowered the cholesterol and triglycerides but also changed the composition of platelets so they were healthier.

Specifically, pantethine helped increase the level of the anti-inflammatory essential fatty acids EPA and DHA, while simultaneously lowering the pro-inflammatory levels of arachidonic acid. This combination of beneficial changes improves platelet health changing factors that otherwise lead to stroke risk and hardening of the arteries. Furthermore, pantethine directly aids in the formation of healthy HDL cholesterol.

3. Stress Management. Pantethine supports vitality and stress tolerance when you feel exhausted, tired and wired, or out-of-balance from stress. It remains one of the best nutrients to help restore a burned out and exhausted HPA axis (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal), the command center in the brain that senses stress.

As a stress-busting nutrient, pantethine supports the adrenal glands as well as overall energy production. Pantethine is essential for anyone struggling with adrenal fatigue and low energy. Stress, which requires increased energy to meet demands, uses up CoA at a faster rate. CoA is a pivotal nutrient in at least 70 energy-related metabolic pathways, including those that make adrenal hormones. Once the levels run low, a person has more difficulty sustaining energy to meet demands. Taking pantethine has been shown to increase energy by supporting the adrenal glands.

4. Detoxification. Pantethine supports phase II detoxification and production of the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase. This helps clear alcohol and aldehyde chemicals formed during the detoxification of alcohol. Feeling foggy-headed after drinking alcohol can be helped with supplemental pantethine. Furthermore, the fungal overgrowth called candida also releases aldehydes as it ferments carbohydrates in the digestive tract. If you are feeling tired and foggy even without drinking alcohol, consider that candida could be the root cause. Taking pantethine with digestive support for candida is helpful.

Most human studies of pantethine use 600-900 mg per day. If you deal with adrenal fatigue, low energy in the morning, mental fogginess, high stress, or detoxification issues, consider supplementing with this outstanding vitamin!
