Too many medications.

Q:   My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD. I don’t understand why it takes a drug to keep my child “well”. I’m not a doctor but she often seems to be over medicated and lethargic. My doctor says these drugs are necessary. Should I look into this further?

A:   As women, we are frequently the seekers of medical guidance for ourselves and our children. This can lead to a reliance on medical dogma, which unfortunately is heavily drug-oriented. Our bodies are not made of drugs. There is no "daily need" for any drug that is fundamental to healthy body functions. Drugs are short-term remedies, at best.
