Q: I’m carrying about 30 extra pounds that I’ve lost and gained 3 times. Dieting makes me tired and cranky. What can I do?
A: Ok, I’m going to scare you a little bit but it’s just to hit the point home. Obesity and Yo-Yo Dieting are dangerous to health and do cause death. Over 400,000 Americans died last year (2007) from obesity related diseases. This is being called a preventable disease and is closing the gap on smoking as the #1 cause of preventable deaths in the country. Read Mastering Leptin, by Byron J. Richards, CCN and myself, which deals with making your metabolism behave and work for you. Follow the five guidelines of eating in Mastering Leptin in a way that IS NOT DIETING and get your body and your hormones back in balance. You will see that real weight loss is possible and it does not need to be as difficult as it seems. Once you learn this information you will see what I am saying. Avoid an excess of sweets and carbohydrates or too many calories in one meal, which can lead to insulin and leptin resistance. Eliminating insulin and leptin resistance is key to good health and longevity. Q: The fact sheet that comes from the pharmacy when you pick up your prescription is so confusing and the list of side effects is overwhelming. It makes me feel like I’m doing more harm than good. What should I do?
