Swedish researchers demonstrated for the first time that people with higher levels of PCBs (chlorinated polychlorinated biphenyl) in their blood have larger amounts of visceral fat. These researchers had previously shown that high PCBs could predict type 2 diabetes. Other research has shown that PBCs disrupt thyroid function. We have the corporate scumbag Monsanto to thank for intentionally poisoning the world with PCBs, a problem that persists to this day and actually continues to worsen as PCBs degrade into even more toxic compounds. Earlier cadaver studies in the U.S. have proven that all Americans carry some PCBs in their fat, and many have a lot. This is a major public health problem and a significant factor in contributing to the type 2 diabetes and obesity epidemics in America. It also makes it difficult for people to lose their stomach fat.
Since PCBs are a fat-soluble toxin it is not surprising to see them wind up in fat.
