Men Lose More Weight Taking Fish Oil

Wednesday, October 10, 2007  -  Byron Richards, CCN

A study published in the International Journal of Obesity found that men taking fish oil lost the most weight while on a diet, an additional 3 pounds over 8 weeks (for a total of 10 pounds).  Eating salmon was also helpful.

This study is further evidence on the importance of restoring metabolic fitness to fat itself – much the same as one thinks of restoring muscle fitness.  DHA Docosahexaenoic acid Essential omega 3 fatty acid integral to the health of all cell membranes, nerve and brain function. Must be gotten through the diet via cold water oceanic fish or some very limited plant sources or taken as a supplement., the important long chain fatty acid in fish oil, helps to wake up stored fat so it is more metabolically responsive.  The lack of this oil in the general diet due to processed foods and animals that no longer graze on grass is certainly a contributing factor to the obesity epidemic.  Due to the unknown but often high levels of mercury in salmon, this study confirms that fish oil supplements are an effective way to support healthy weight management.  Molecularly distilled DHA Docosahexaenoic acid Essential omega 3 fatty acid integral to the health of all cell membranes, nerve and brain function. Must be gotten through the diet via cold water oceanic fish or some very limited plant sources or taken as a supplement. contains no mercury, pesticides, or other toxins.
