If you are short on sleep and are trying to lose weight it may cut your results by 55%, as demonstrated by a new study in the Annals of Internal Medicine1.

I have reported for many years that sleep is your primary metabolic time for fat burning, as long as you don’t eat after dinner.  This study also demonstrates that sleep disturbs leptin and the appetite signal ghrelin in such a way as to make a person more hungry – on top of the tiredness caused by a lack of sleep.
