Jogging Helps Correct Leptin Problems

Elevating levels of the hormone leptin typically accompany abdominal obesity, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, and high blood pressure.  Leptin seeks to communicate, as if making a phone call, to the soluble leptin receptors in numerous locations throughout the body and general circulatory system.  This communication is vital for the normal function of metabolism, production of energy, and virtually all aspects of cardiovascular health.

When there are not enough soluble leptin receptors to answer leptin’s phone calls, then leptin resistance occurs as excessive amounts of the hormone have nothing to do.  The theory behind the Five Rules of The Leptin Diet is to restore normal leptin levels by eating in harmony with the hormone.  A new study shows that jogging four times a week for at least 30 minutes will increase the amount of soluble leptin receptor and thus lower leptin levels, aiding weight loss.  Jogging was superior to weight training in this regard and far superior to being sedentary.
