Weight Loss News From Byron J. Richards
B Vitamins Reduce Obesity PronenessMonday, July 28, 2008 - Byron J. Richards, CCNA novel animal study has shown that nutrition can influence the ways genes are expressed during pregnancy, so that the newborn is less likely to become obese. This study has far reaching implications for public health because right now many overweight mothers are predisposing their children to be overweight through improper gene programming. In the study a group of nutrients (vitamin B12, folic acid, choline, and betaine – also known was TMG or trimethylglycine) were given to pregnant mice who were genetically programmed to become obese. The nutrients stopped the problem, indicating they were able to change the way genes functioned during development. Mice not given the nutrients became progressively more obese for the three consecutive generations tested. The nutrients used are called methyl donors, as they assist in the natural process of methylation that is central to well over 300 vital chemistry reactions that take place in your liver and brain. Without adequate methylation many aspects of metabolism cannot possibly work correctly, including how your DNA behaves and how well you tolerate stress. This is why I formulated our Super B Complex with high amounts of betaine (trimethylglycine), to ensure you had enough of these methyl donors to offset stress and keep your mood in good shape. This new study sheds light on the importance of methyl donors to general liver metabolism – the metabolic factory of your body. When you use enough B vitamins and betaine to support your energy and your mood it is likely that you metabolism will benefit as well. This advice applies to anyone trying to lose weight and certainly applies to any mother who is pregnant and wants to be sure her child has a good metabolism.
