Caffeine is known to have antioxidant properties and may be protective against a variety of health problems. For example, coffee contains various flavonoids that participate in antioxidant processes. A new study shows that caffeine directly acts as an antioxidant, independent of such flavonoids, by binding on to the hydroxyl radical and rendering it inert.

Calcium fructoborate (FruiteX-B) is a unique nature-identical form of the mineral boron, a nutrient woefully lacking in American soil and consequently the American food supply. Scientists have known for several decades that the depletion of boron in soil as a result of chemical fertilizers has increased the rate of arthritis around the world – and supplemental boron helps. Research over the past decade has demonstrated that calcium fructoborate has excellent absorption, sustained bioavailability, reduced inflammation in joints, enhanced status of calcium, hormones, and vitamin D, and improved bone and joint health.

Vitamin K is an important antioxidant nutrient well known for its important assistance in the clotting of blood. It is also the target of the commonly over-prescribed Coumadin, adding to society-wide problems of vitamin K deficiency. Ironically, such deficiency causes hardening of the arteries via increased calcification of arterial walls. Importantly, the lack of vitamin K is a major factor in poor bone health and new science shows it is also important for blood sugar regulation. Once again, the symptom-suppressing, drug-pushing medical profession needs to get its head out of the sand and quit harming people under the false pretense of pretended help.

The World Health Organization set off a new cell phone alarm button around the world by concluding after a gathering of scientists that cell phones are possible carcinogens. A few weeks earlier Austrian and Canadian researchers linked cell phone use to poor sperm quality and risk for infertility – a study that hasn’t received the WHO-generated cancer buzz, but is potentially far more important.

This study involved 4,447 French adults aged 45 to 60, with modest amounts of vitamin C, beta carotene, vitamin E, selenium, and zinc. It studied the effect of these basic antioxidant nutrients over a six year period and found those with the slight antioxidant boost had better memory and cognitive performance.

Two human studies and a number of animal studies continue to show the power of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) to bolster the antioxidant system. Exercise ability is always a test of your antioxidant systems. If you want to get a healthy response to exercise, it requires that you have the antioxidant capacity to perform exercise. When you use your muscles at a higher rate of output, your cellular engines, in addition to making more energy, make more free radicals. If you have enough antioxidants on board, you are more likely to get a good response to exercise. If your antioxidant savings account is low, then you will get increased fatigue and other undesirable symptoms during and/or following exercise. Two new human studies, one in trained men and one in sedentary men, show that NAC directly boosts exercise performance by reducing the free radicals produced during exercise.
