A rather shocking new study in men undergoing androgen blocking therapy as part of prostate cancer treatment found average bone loss of 5% after one year of treatment. The amount of bone loss directly correlated to suppression of testosterone levels. A detailed analysis of bone microarchitecture showed that androgen deprivation therapy seriously disturbs bone architecture, inducing weak bones that are more likely to fracture.
