The FDA reform legislation passed by the House and Senate shows just how corrupt the politics for profit system in America has become. The idea that citizens would have no right to sue a drug company when they are injured or killed by a medication is a difficult pill to swallow. Especially in light of multiple scandals, many ongoing, wherein the FDA and drug companies selectively hide important risks from the public in an effort to protect the profits of Big Pharma at the expense of human health.

High Dose Vitamin E is Safe for the Heart

A randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study tested 1200 IU of vitamin E per day for two years in patients with coronary artery disease. The study is significant because various forces promoting drugs have fraudulently concocted anti-vitamin E studies in an effort to get older people to take more drugs and to not take vitamin E. Of course, the Big Pharma-sponsored media did not report the pro-vitamin E study.

A newly unveiled lawsuit based on information provided by a top former Pfizer exec now turned whistleblower is showing that this stroke of marketing genius was based on blatantly illegal marketing and pushing the drug on Americans who really did not need it. As the poster child for the statin scam Pfizer has likely damaged the health of millions of Americans. Now there is an attempt to hit them where it counts, in the pocket book.

Today researchers from the University of British Columbia and Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute released a study showing that popular bone drugs triple the risk for the death of bone tissue, resulting in pain and disfigurement. This new information helps to explain the recent FDA warning on debilitating pain from these drugs.

It is a great example of how the Big Pharma lobby controls Congress to the detriment of health, as well as needlessly and dramatically inflating the costs of our health care system for everyone. Like any piece of legislation it purports to address a troubling issue – in this case the mood distress of mothers following birth known as postpartum depression. It is true that 10% - 15% of women need some assistance in dealing with this topic – but the majority of them sure don’t need it from Big Pharma. That is the Big Lie.

Fosamax Linked to Serious Abnormal Bone Fractures

On March 20, 2008, The New England Journal of Medicine published a physician group report of 15 women taking Fosamax who experienced “atypical low-energy fractures,” which means their bones broke doing almost nothing – a serious kind of injury typically seen in very elderly individuals in declining health. The fact that the NEJM is reporting this is a major wake up call to anyone who hasn’t figured out that Fosamax is dangerous to your health.
