What are Lipids?

Lipids are important compounds that are fat-soluble or associated with fatty substances in your body. Two of your most important lipids are cholesterol and triglycerides. To be healthy, lipids must flow properly in your metabolism. Lipid Helper™ is designed to support the natural processes by which your body metabolizes these important substances. Lipid Helper™ (formerly called Niacin Plus) contains non-flush niacin, pterostilbene, and milk thistle extract.*

Non-flush Niacin

Niacin is a B vitamin widely regarded for its beneficial impact on healthy cholesterol and triglyceride metabolism. Lipid Helper™ contains a non-flush form of niacin called inositol hexanicotinate that consists of six molecules of niacin bound to inositol. As your body metabolizes this form of niacin, it is slowly released. This significantly minimizes any flushing and assists in the healthy metabolism of HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Niacin also helps relax the vascular system through nitric oxide production to improve circulation.*

Pterostilbene

The nutrient pterostilbene (pronounced “tero-STILL-bean”) is an extract of the pterocarpus marsupium tree. Research shows that pterostilbene has a powerful ability to influence the metabolism of cholesterol and the synthesis of triglycerides. It does this by binding to a specific receptor in the nucleus of a cell that is vital to the metabolism of fat. This receptor is called PPARa. Thus, pterostilbene is guiding a cell’s use of cholesterol and triglycerides, thus supporting healthy metabolism. Lipid Helper™ is standardized for 7.5mg of pterostilbene per capsule, ensuring you get a beneficial amount of this nutrient.*

Milk Thistle Extract

Milk Thistle Extract (silymarin) is one of the most popular liver-support nutrients. Your liver plays a vital role in the healthy metabolism of cholesterol and triglycerides so it is not surprising to find that this nutrient also lends a hand in the healthy metabolism of these lipids. Several studies show silymarin helps protect against a high fat diet, partly by reducing absorption of lipids. It has also been shown to help protect LDL cholesterol, acting as part of the antioxidant network. Human studies show that silymarin is yet another helpful nutrient to support the healthy metabolism of cholesterol and triglycerides.*
