Cissus Quadrangularis: A Pilot Study in Human Fracture RecoveryByron's Comments:This published study explains the results of a pilot study Cissus Quadrangularis in 10 patients with fracture of the long bones of the leg. It cut healing time from the expected 16-20 weeks down to 12-14 weeks at a dose of 250 mg three times per day, in combination with two anti-inflammatory herbs (Ashwagandha 125 mg and Holy Basil 125 mg). Study Title:Effect of herbal combination containing Cissus quadrangularis in fracture healing.Study Abstract:The tissue repair is an inherent property of most of the living tissues, which are vulnerable to sustain injuries. Hence it is natural that the defence mechanisms of the body try to overcome the problems produced by trauma and make up the deficiency. Different tissues like bone, muscles, tendons, nerve and skin have their own way and period of healing, Amongst all the tissues, fracture of bone takes longest time to complete repair and restoration of normal function. Because the fractures cause longest morbidity with associated immobilisation and restriction of ambulation, fractures affect the quality of life of an individual.
