A recent randomized, double-blind cross-over trial showed that Korean Pine Nut Oil helps regulate appetite. Within 30 minutes of ingesting 3 grams of the oil, women reported a 29% reduction in the desire to eat. Researchers identified that the nutrient helped raise two important signals that reduce appetite, cholecystokinin (CCK) and glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP1). CCK was elevated 60% and GLP1 by 25%, a result that lasted four hours. It is likely that Korean Pine Nut Oil will be a great tool to assist those who struggle with portion size.* This new study is consistent with the traditional use of this oil. Siberians, during the long winter where food was often scarce, have used pine nuts or a tablespoon of pine nut oil either with a meal or in some cases to replace a meal, as it is known in this culture to produce a long-lasting feeling of fullness.* It has also been used traditionally to soothe an irritated digestive tract as well as to boost energy. Scientists are now analyzing its affect on the cardiovascular system, looking into how its works in the cholesterol and blood pressure functions of our bodies. While this research is just beginning, preliminary cell and animal studies are favorable and it appears Korean Pine Nut Oil can be added to the cardiovascular-friendly nutrient toolbox.* Korean Pine Nut Oil has antioxidant properties, and will therefore support the synergistic function of other dietary antioxidants such as A, C, and E. As a unique isomer of GLA, it falls into the category of essential fatty acids. However, its structure is unlike any other essential fatty acid and it clearly has unique properties. At the top of its list is the ability to help modulate appetite, and thereby help individuals reduce unneeded food intake.* |
