What is Mangosteen?

Mangosteen is known as "the queen of fruits" and is commonly found in Southeast Asia. The rind of the fruit is a rich source of antioxidant compounds called xanthones. Our product contains the entire fruit, thus providing a rich source of all xanthones typically found in this fruit. Our extract is standardized for an ORAC value of 1500 per gram, indicating excellent antioxidant potential. ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity) is a scientific standard for measuring the antioxidant potency of foods. Mangosteen Plus™ provides you with a serving of this valuable fruit concentrate without the undesirable sugars found in mangosteen juice products.

Various fruits provide a wide range of interesting compounds that help promote health. Mangosteen is no exception, containing uniquely structured antioxidants called prenylated xanthones. Prenylation (a molecule that repels water and attracts fat) enables the xanthone to attach to cell membranes (which are rich in fatty acids). This enables the xanthone to exert its nutritional benefit at the surface of a cell or inside the cell.*

Various cell studies have shown that mangosteen supports the cellular antioxidant defense system as well as modulating NF KappaB, a very important gene signal that helps a cell manage stress effectively.*

While mangosteen has been used in folk medicine for centuries, scientific research in humans is just getting underway. Cranberry

The deep red pigment of cranberries contains excellent antioxidant polyphenols known as anthocyanins. Cranberry anthocyanins have a particular affinity for the urinary tract. They have been found to support the health of the urinary tract, offering unique natural immune support.*

One function of cranberry juice is to acidify the urine. This is due to some of the naturally occurring acids contained in cranberry such as hippuric acid and quinic acid. Not only do these compounds help support the urinary tract, they also help keep calcium and phosphate ions functioning correctly in the kidneys so that calcium stays in proper solution. Cranberries help support normal amounts of calcium oxylate.*

Yet another compound found naturally in cranberries is arbutin, which has a mild diuretic effect and is thus helpful nutritional support for the kidneys in their effort to maintain natural water balance.* Moving stagnant fluid out of the body is important for proper circulation and weight management.*
