Trans Resveratrol

Trans resveratrol is found in some red wines and is believed to be a key reason for the French paradox, wherein a higher level of saturated fat is consumed and heart health is maintained. Research shows that trans resveratrol protects against some metabolic stressors associated with a high fat diet.*

Trans resveratrol acts through a variety of natural mechanisms to enhance health, and much research points to these mechanisms in an anti-aging context similar to the beneficial effects seen in calorie restriction (apparently by activating a gene called SIRT1).*

It is a very active cardiovascular antioxidant, working synergistically as part of the antioxidant network. It has been shown to enhance the function of an important cellular antioxidant enzyme called MnSOD, which helps keep mitochondria in good working order to make energy more efficiently while protecting against damage. It also helps modulate NF-kappaB, the key stress and inflammation gene signal within a cell.*

Grape Seed Extracts

The very high concentration of active polyphenols in our special grape seed extracts is a potent antioxidant working synergistically in the antioxidant network. These extracts have a very high affinity for collagen structures, including your arteries and heart. They are known to enhance the structural integrity of any tissue they attach to, helping to offset physical wear and tear.*

Grape seed extracts help turn on the enzyme nitric oxide (NO) synthase, in turn stimulating the production of the friendly NO that relaxes your circulatory systems and supports healthy blood pressure function. Like trans-resveratrol, grape seed extract also modulate NF-kappaB, reducing inflammatory wear and tear.*

Hawthorn Berry

Hawthorn berry has been used traditionally as a cardiovascular tonic.* The Hawthorn berry fruit has an affinity for collagen structures of the heart, blood vessels, and the endothelial lining of the circulatory system.* This aspect of nutritional support should be thought of as nourishment for the structure of the cardiovascular system.*

Hawthorn berry also helps the circulatory system manage stress.* During times of circulatory stress immune cells may release an enzyme called human neutrophil elastase (HNE). While this is a normal enzyme, too much of it can induce wear and tear. Hawthorn berry helps to modulate the release of HNE, thereby supporting cardiovascular health.*

Hawthorn berries interact in a variety of ways in the circulatory system supporting the pumping action of the heart, heart rhythms, heart rate, and platelet function.* Hawthorn berry is an impressive fruit extract for cardiovascular support.*

Horse Chestnut

A great deal of attention in the field of cardiovascular health is frequently focused on the heart itself. The heart may need to work harder if the veins or the lymphatic system need assistance. The lymph system has no direct pump, it runs on body movement and indirectly relies on the heart to maintain force of movement. Problems on this "back end" of the circulatory system may promote fluid retention, vein stress, and lymphatic congestion (pressure in the shoulder area, excess mucous, etc.).*

Horse Chestnut has been shown to help strengthen the veins and support circulation in the legs, helping to move fluids in the normal manner.*
