Podcast FAQ

Now, what is a podcast?
A "podcast" is just another word for an audio or video file. These files, usually in MP3 form, can be downloaded from a website through an automatic "feed". They then can be heard whenever you want, either from your computer or a portable media player.

Are they the same as audio files that have always been available online?
Podcasts are different from regular audio files, because they are portable and available on demand.

What does it mean when I subscribe to a podcast?
Subscribing to podcasts means that whenever a new episode is available, it will automatically download to your computer. When you subscribe, a few previous episodes will also be available to download.

How can I listen to them?
Two ways:
  1. Click on the "download" button and listen right away from your computer. You will need speakers and a program such as Windows Media Player or Real Player to listen.
  2. Download to a "podcatcher" program such as iTunes or Zune. There are dozens of others that may be found online. Follow downloading instructions specific to your "podcatcher" to get them onto your computer or portable media player.
