What Men Should Know - Women, Exercise, & Mood

Science is proving what most women already know; that leisure time physical activity boosts your mood1 compared to the same amount of physical energy spent at work or doing chores. Women with 3.5 hours of leisure-time physical activity per week are less likely to be depressed, especially if activities are with other family members (the social angle adds to the anti-depressant value).
In terms of specific exercise, more than 1.5 hours of moderate or vigorous exercise also resulted in a 60% less risk for depression.
On the other side of the coin, if a family member was discouraging her from being active or exercising, the risk for depression doubled.
Thus, my advice is not for women who most likely know this but for men who sometimes can use a tip or two. If you would like your wife to be in a better mood then spend a few hours together each week doing outside exercise-like activities – such as walking or something else she enjoys. Just being there with her while she is having fun being active may pay huge dividends in your relationship.
