In new research reported at the American Association for Cancer Research1 101st Annual Meeting 2010 it was shown that basic vitamins reduce breast cancer risk by 30% and calcium reduced breast cancer risk by 40%.

The study included 268 women with breast cancer and 457 healthy controls. Women were more likely to have breast cancer if they were older, had a family history of breast cancer, had no history of breastfeeding and had lower DNA repair capacity.

Vitamins reduced risk relating to all of these categories whereas the effect of calcium was to enhance the DNA repair of cells which helps prevent mutation that leads to cancer.

Simple nutrition – powerful benefit.
