Undecylenic acid is a medium chain fatty acid best known for its germ-control ability – including the disruption of troubling biofilms (germ gangs) of Candida albicans1. Surprisingly, researchers have now shown that this nutrient stimulates the bone-building osteoblasts2. The researchers demonstrated that undecylenic turned on alkaline phosphatase, a sign that osteoblasts have gone into action. Furthermore, the nutrient also assisted gene expression of osteocalcin Hormone secreted by osteoblasts for the bone formation process. It is also involved with pancreatic and insulin function and adiponectin secretion., a critical step in helping calcium to form bones. There are many nutrients that help contribute to bone health. It is always nice to have more options. Since undecylenic acid is often used to help control the Candida issue and many individuals with ongoing Candida struggles are also concerned about bone health, this is one way to help address both issues.
