Tocotrienols Offset Alcohol-Induced Nerve Damage

Excess alcohol consumption induces inflammatory damage to nerves resulting in cognitive dysfunction.  A new study shows that the tocotrienol Specialized form of vitamin E. Powerful antioxidant showing positive benefits for cholesterol, cardiovascular, neurological health and cancer risk reduction. form of vitamin E1 is superior to plain d alpha tocopherol in reducing alcohol-induced nerve damage.

The researchers had rats consume alcohol for 10 weeks, treating some with alpha tocopherol and others with tocotrienols.  After 10 weeks the brains of the rats were analyzed for oxidative stress and inflammation.

Tocotrienols showed the superior ability to prevent alcohol induced damage to nerves, lowering the free radical stress and inflammation.

This study is consistent with earlier studies showing the superior ability of the tocotrienol Specialized form of vitamin E. Powerful antioxidant showing positive benefits for cholesterol, cardiovascular, neurological health and cancer risk reduction. form of vitamin E to prevent nerve and inflammatory damage.
