Health & Wellness News From Byron J. Richards
Researchers Recommend Vitamin C, Not StatinsSaturday, November 15, 2008 - Byron Richards, CCNAfter the grotesque fanfare put on by the American Heart Association as it attempted to get individuals without elevated cholesterol to take statins, many in the scientific community have published warnings that such a use of statins is inappropriate. A brand new study out on vitamin C says that it is just as good at lowering CRP as a statin, at the dose of 1000 mg per day. The researchers stated that “It has recently been suggested by some researchers that people with elevated CRP should be put on statins as a preventive measure. For people who have elevated CRP but not elevated LDL cholesterol, our data suggest that vitamin C should be investigated as an alternative to statins, or as something to be used to delay the time when statin use becomes necessary.” There are many nutrients that help reduce CRP as part of an overall healthy program. The foundation of the CRP issue rests with your body weight and your exercise. The heavier you get the more your liver produces CRP. This is because stored fat produces “inflammatory cousins” TNFa and IL6, which in turn send signals to your liver to make CRP. The actual source of the problem is the amount of excess stored fat on hand. Don’t use dangerous medications to treat symptoms, lose weight and solve the root of problem. It is also clearly documented that the more aerobically fit you are the lower your CRP levels. View CRP as a red flag that means you are out of shape. While your getting back in shape use nutrients to help keep CRP in a healthier range. The nutrients that help CRP help many other aspects of your health at the same time.
