Quercetin Reduces the Risk of Pancreatic Cancer

Tuesday, October 16, 2007  -  Byron Richards, CCN

Research published in the American Journal of Epidemiology shows that quercetin intake directly lowers the risk of pancreatic cancer. Quercetin is a unique bioflavonoid that is high in onions and apples and is also available as a dietary supplement.

Quercetin is widely used as a natural anti-histamine, especially for sinus and digestive issues.  In addition to acting as an antioxidant, quercetin is known to reduce inflammation in the GI tract as well as help the GI tract detoxify harmful substances.  It is likely that the improvement in GI tract health from quercetin intake is a main reason for the reduction in pancreatic cancer.
