Quercetin Helps Exercise

A recent study showed 1,000 mg per day of quercetin for two weeks helped improve the response to exercise while activating anti-aging gene signaling. One of the most important uses of nutrition is to enhance the response to exercise, especially in people who are struggling. Not only is quercetin an excellent anti-inflammatory, this study shows that it enhances muscle energy dynamics in a positive way.
The type of exercise performed in the study was a 12-minute treadmill workout. Those taking quercetin were able to go a longer distance in that 12-minute period, as well as activating the anti-aging gene signal sirtuin1. Several other genes involved with the formation of new mitochondria were also shown, indicating that quercetin improved the trend of better fitness and muscle function.
This type of finding is especially important for individuals who struggle with exercise or who do not get a good response to exercise. The classic example is fibromyalgia, although this applies to any person that is out of shape and would like to get back in shape faster.
