Add pomegranate1 to your list of immune boosting nutrients. Researchers have discovered that the polyphenol known as punicalagin is what gives pomegranate its excellent flu-fighting characteristics. High quality supplements of pomegranate are standardized for punicalagins because they are known to exert positive health benefits especially for your cardiovascular system. Punicalagins are delicate and typically destroyed by juice making. Thus, either eat fresh pomegranates or take a high potency extract. The new research found that punicalagins blocked the replication of viral RNA and had direct anti-viral properties.
