Noni has been used in traditional medicine as a natural immune support nutrient. A number of modern studies support the use of Noni in this context, as I previously reviewed in my article, Noni as a Natural Immune Booster. A new animal study shows that Noni can protect the brain from stress1 in such a way as to help maintain cognitive function. This new finding is interesting and adds to Noni’s reputation as a relaxant nutrient. Many people use Noni to help calm nerves or as part of the bedtime sleep support program. This new study indicates that Noni may be especially helpful to those under high stress. In the experiment animals were subjected to weeks of restraint stress, some were given Noni and the control group was not. They were than put through a standardized water maze test, which demonstrates cognitive ability and were able to finish it faster than the control mice. An analysis of the blood vessels showed them to be smaller, i.e., not inflamed as a result of the stress. The researchers concluded that Noni “protects brains from stress-induced impairment of cognitive function.” Share:
