A systematic review of 10 randomized controlled trials that looked into the effects of multivitamins on human cognitive performance showed that taking a multivitamin on a regular basis improved immediate recall ability.

Immediate recall tests how much you can remember of something you just learned. Such data is known to be stored in transition areas of brain cell structure. Accessing it properly has to do with brain speed and general brain health.

While much more science should be conducted to test the ability of vitamins to help cognitive function, this initial review of the literature shows a very favorable effect of a multivitamin on the health of your brain. The results should not be a surprise, since B vitamins are needed for nerve transmission.
