Lack of Zeaxanthin Linked to Poor Eyesight in Aging

Sunday, March 09, 2008  -  Byron Richards, CCN

Your eyes must process sunlight over the course of your life which exposes them to ionizing radiation that generates free radicals which must be deactivated by antioxidants, otherwise eyesight suffers undue wear and tear.

Of particular concern during aging is the macular region of the eye, i.e., the central area of the retina which provides detailed central vision.  Earlier research has shown that this region of the eye is composed of the natural carotene called lutein.

A new study1 links another natural carotene, zeaxanthin, to age-associated loss of health in the macular region of the eye.

Both lutein and zeaxanthin are contained in our Daily Protector formula, along with a synergistic balance of other antioxidants that are required for eye health.  Daily Protector is the best eyesight support formula on the market today.*
