Ginger Supplement Reduces Colon Inflammation

It is now a fact of science that ongoing digestive tract inflammation increases the risk for many health problems, not the least of which is colon cancer. Natural strategies to manage digestive inflammation are thus of great importance, including the use of various nutrients such as vitamin D, calcium, quercetin, curcumin, and DHA Docosahexaenoic acid Essential omega 3 fatty acid integral to the health of all cell membranes, nerve and brain function. Must be gotten through the diet via cold water oceanic fish or some very limited plant sources or taken as a supplement.. We can now add ginger to that list, as a recent human study shows that ginger can significantly reduce colon inflammation.

Study participants consumed 2,000 mg of ginger per day for 28 days. Biopsies before and after were used to show that ginger had significantly reduced intestinal inflammation.

“We need to apply the same rigor to the sorts of questions about the effect of ginger root that we apply to other clinical trial research,” said lead author Suzanna M. Zick. “Interest in this is only going to increase as people look for ways to prevent cancer that are nontoxic, and improve their quality of life in a cost-effective way.”

Ginger has a long traditional history in support of digestive health and general inflammation reduction. Human studies like this help to prove the effectiveness of natural remedies that have no side effects.
