Elevating Blood Sugar Ages Your Brain

Monday, December 29, 2008  -  Byron Richards, CCN

Advanced-imaging brain research now proves that as blood sugar elevates1 there is corresponding damage to the memory center of your brain, the hippocampus.  This finding is significant because it does not require a disease-level blood sugar problem, like diabetes, in order to sustain brain damage.  Optimal health is signified by a fasting blood sugar level less than 90.  Anything above 90 indicates that damage to your brain may be occurring – the higher the number the more likely the damage.

Blood sugar levels are lowered by following the Five Rules of the Leptin Diet, exercise, and taking nutrients that assist your body to metabolize sugar more efficiently.  These include chromium, vanadium, cinnamon, gymnema sylvestre, inula racemosa, banaba, coffee fruit, bitter melon, chlorella, and blueberry.  Optimal function of blood sugar metabolism is a hallmark of anti-aging health.
