Cranberry Repels Bacteria

Tuesday, July 22, 2008  -  Byron Richards, CCN

It has long been known that cranberries offer protection against urinary tract infection.  A new study helps to explain how cranberries1 work their magic.  In essence, they erect an energetic force field around healthy cells of the walls of the urinary tract, directly preventing bacteria from sticking to them.

The repelling effects of cranberry only last as long as cranberry is being consumed – the higher the dose the better the immune support.  Since cranberry juice is often loaded with sugar it is best to use fine quality cranberry extracts, standardized for potency.  They can be taken as needed to knock out a problem or used preventatively on a regular basis for those at risk of recurring issues.
