Cranberry is well regarded for its anti-bacterial properties, offering significant protection for the urinary tract.  A new study shows that cranberry was able to inhibit the replication of a variety of viruses1.

Cranberry proanthocyanadins are the active compound in cranberry that exerts its beneficial health-promoting properties.  The fact that they are now showing significant ability to impede viral infectivity is more good news – yet another multi-talented immune support nutrient.  The researchers concluded that cranberry juice and cranberry extracts “show promise as natural antivirals that could potentially be exploited for foodborne viral illness treatment and prevention.”
