Blueberries are one of the best studied nutrients for mind and metabolic health.  Now comes a new study showing they can inhibit a variety of cancer cells1 – more good news for blueberries.

Blueberry extract was found to decrease enzymes associated with cancer spreading while bolstering anti-cancer enzymes.  A detailed analysis showed that blueberry was directly regulating the core gene signal that is hijacked during cancer, NF-kappaB Protein complex that controls DNA transcription and is involved with cellular responses to stress, cytokines, free radicals, UV radiation, oxidized LDL, and infections. .  The ability of blueberry to help address the source of the problem at the gene level is a significant finding.
